Highlights of 2010: Engagements

Two souls, one heart. ~ French saying

We love engagement photograph sessions just as much as we love weddings! Some of our favorite engagement images have come from this year.  Each engagement session and each couple were unique and full of personality. We loved getting to know them and laughing with them.  The greatest thing about engagment pictures is that there are no rules and no limits.  Anything is possible.  That makes it exciting!  It has been a tremendous year.

Next week in our Highlight series we will look at the funny moments of 2010.  So, for all our friends, get ready to see those silly pictures...

Highlights of 2010: Weddings

Well, it was an incredible year, and we have so much to be thankful for.  This year has brought us so much joy as we have made many friends and worked with some amazing people.  For the rest of January we are going to highlight the best moments of 2010, starting with weddings.

For every wedding there is a story waiting to to be told. The story of the couple, the families, their individual uniqueness, and their love is communicated throughout a day full of memories.  As we reflected about these defining moments, we were so blessed to think about the stories of each couple.  They all are tremendous people.  Enjoy the images!

Katie and Matt's Wedding

Our last wedding of 2010 took us to the Cyclone town of of Ames, Iowa, where a Nebraska girl married an Iowa boy.

We first met Matt and Katie in the summer, and immediately we were impressed by their character and deep love for each other.  Matt and Katie are a remarkable couple, full of life and devotion.  On their wedding day white winter snow dusted the ground with a sparkle of excitement.  Inside beautiful stained glass windows showered the church with gorgeous light.  It was the perfect winter day.

The ceremony was filled with abounding joy.  Katie and Matt glowed as they adoringly looked at each other.  Their vibrant personalities were reflected in many ways throughout the day.  The playful bantering of two football rivals, the fur Russian Trooper hats, and the dance-off down the aisle, where each bridal party member showed their best moves while Katie and Matt scored them, were just some of the many priceless moments during the day.  The evening was alive with laughter as the celebration began.  Friends and family are a priority for Katie and Matt, and the reception was one of the greatest parties that we have been to. Everyone danced till they couldn't dance any more.  One of the highlights of the evening was Matt's Thriller Dance.  The perfect execution and choreography would have made Michael Jackson proud.  Everyone celebrated the union of Katie and Matt!

We made many wonderful memories during this December wedding.  Many thanks to Katie and Matt for letting us be a part of their wedding day and their lives!

Washa's Senior Pictures - Part 2

On a beautiful afternoon, I met Washa for her outdoor senior pictures. We met in downtown Fremont. The rugged walls and alleyways made a perfect background. The sunlight brought a warm glow to the cool crisp air. The seasons were begining to change.  Excitement filled our senses and brought out Washa's fun personality. Washa is a young woman full of potential and a zeal for life.  I had wonderful time getting to know her better. Best of luck to her in the future.

Plattsmouth Wedding - Kristina and Matt

"What is beauty but something that is responded to with emotion?  Courage, at least partly, is emotional.  All the splendor of life.  But the best of life is, in fact, emotional, then one wanted the highest, purest emotions: and that meant joy." - Sheldon Vanauken

Nestled in the rolling hills of Plattsmouth, NE a small community church was illuminated with the warm celebration of Matt and Kristina's Wedding.  Laughter, smiles and many tears were shared when Kristina received Matt's wedding gift; a red rose and a homemade scrapbook of drawings, poems, pictures, and a prayer for their marriage.  It was the perfect collection of his love for her.  Everyone cried, even me!  In the sanctuary Matt awaited the moment he would get to see his bride for the first time.  When he turned around to see her, tears fell.  Kristina looked simply beautiful!

Matt and Kristina's wedding was about the union, of families, friends, and with each other.  Their ceremony resounded with joy and promise.  During the ceremony they honored their mothers with roses.  Then, on the way to the reception, they made a special surprise stop to see their Grandmother in a nursing home.  They shared their joy with everyone.

The reception was held at the historic Durum Museum.  The halls were elegantly ornate with colossal ceilings and gold trim.  In the center of the main hall a huge Christmas tree greeted every guest to the celebration. When the bridal party arrived we had a blast taking photographs in the old train station and on the trolly.  The evening was full of dancing and joy! We couldn't be happier for them.  Many blessings to them in the future.

Dusty's Senior Pictures

Our latest adventure into world of senior pictures brought Dusty to our studio.  This year we have had the privilege of working with some outstanding seniors in the Omaha area, and Dusty was one of them. Behind the lens of my camera I have the opportunity of capturing the individual personalities of each senior.  I love hearing their stories and learning their likes and dislikes.  My favorite moments were lying down on a soccer field near our studio as Dusty rocketed soccer balls over my head.  Dusty is an athlete.  He is also a scholar who has a bright future in whatever he decides to study.  Best of luck to Dusty and his future endeavors!
